Magazine Advert Prototype 3
Tanya, my media studies teacher, told me to change the advert from a single to a digipack and also to include the features that would feature within the pack.
I have now done this and the edit is below.

Magazine Advert Prototype 2
The version above is better because you can not see the edited sections, in the below version it is nearly perfect but there are slight imperfections.
The new version of my magazine advert features more explosive effects and an explanation that TV Riot is a single, because the other was too vague on this. It is certainly more impressive than the previous effort shown on the blog.

Magazine Advert Prototype Analysis
I decided to make the advert as mysterious as possible while telling the reader everything the need to know (The name of the track and when it is out)
I used this method because it becomes enticing and makes people curious as to what the track is like.
The television is a visual reference to the song lyrics and also to our music video. It is the same TV used in our video.
I made it black and white to imitate the lyrics on bordem and repetition, with the song title shining through contrasting the rest of the poster, the riot within the dullness.

Final Cut Comments
The comments we received were very fair and we agree with the fact that we should have used more variety in our locations, we struggled to find a suitable location so we had to settle for somewhere less appealing than what we had originally planned.
overall we think our video turned out very well except for a few glitches that we didn't have time to fix. we feel like we managed to get our ideas across effectively and incorporated the tv screens idea successfully.

Goodwin Peer Feedback
FEEDBACK FROM GROUP 25
1. Performance based video which demonstrates the indie characteristics.
2. Illustrative relationship between lyrics and visuals. When they chuck the tv at the end of the video
3. No real relationship between music and visuals.
4. Good variety of shots including many close ups.
5. Frequent notion of looking e.g the screen of them performing is within the t.v.
6. No intertextual analysis.
The lead singer of the band lip synced very well and the bands performance was very appealing. The performance of the band within the television screen was also an effective notion of looking which related to the lyrics which were 't.v riot'. However, to improve there could be more variety in settings. As there is only the room with the band playing and the room with the girls dancing.

Digipack
We are considering making our CD available as part of a digipack, which means it will come with bonuses such as special features + posters. It will come in a gatefold (book style) case capable of holding 2 CD's.
This was recommended to us by a media studies teacher, and we believe it is quite an original idea to separate our ideas from the rest.

Student videos with similar techniques
This music video uses a similar 'frame within a frame' technique to ours.
As does this.

Lyrics Analysis
Tv Riot
The lyrics are saying how television has changed society and I believe "We get stuck in reruns" is a metaphor for life being repetitive and everything becoming similar. Essentially, the mans relationship has become stale and they are stuck in a state of watching TV all the time and always doing the same things, he is saying they are held in a loop of repetition.

how our ideas are developing
As we've tried to film our video we have run into a few problems. the main one being finding a suitable location. we have struggled to find somewhere as big as we originally intended so we are going to have to settle for a smaller venue.
We have also struggled to get enough people together to make an effective 'audience' at the bands gig. If we cannot find enough people we may have to alter the idea slightly and not have an audience. we would still have the people watching the TV's end up dancing with the band though.

Our reaction to comments.
All of the comments had a point and will be taken into consideration, even though most of the problems were just things we hadn't got round to doing yet. We will remember all the feedback and take it into account when editing the rest of our music video.
Summary of teacher comments
Well framed-Majority mid and long shots need to be expanded with close up.
More camera movement possibly needed.
Movement back and forth from performance, Living room is fine. Needs more editing through the lens as well as at the end.
Concept of TV is excellent and fits with the expectations of a performance based video with quirky premise. Performance fits with expectation.
More performance close ups needed.
More TV Themed shots needed.

Summary of peer comments
Needs more close-ups of the singers face, but the setting of the band + props were very good.
Well done camera work with nice framing.
Mise-En-Scene good, not typically 'indie' but fits with the genre.
At the beginning, camera work is really good because of the home-video feel which comes from the effects.
Concept of a band in a TV is good.
In the bridge of the song, not a lot happens, needs something original.
Good edit with the footage on the TV.
Bad TV effect very effective. Black and white with color gives a nice contrast.
Good performance from the band, costume use good.
Band dressed very indie.
Idea suits genre but adds a funny twist with the dancing.
More close ups of the band are needed to promote band.
More structure around key parts of the song are needed.
Show all members of the band.
Could add some footage of something else other than people dancing just in case it gets a bit repetitive.
More facial reaction shots.
